Here are a collection of five short videos from celebrated doctors and scientists that clearly and concisely explain how you can prevent, arrest and even reverse three of the most devastating chronic diseases plaguing our society today. Take the time to watch them and pass them along to those for whom you care……..
When Dr. Caldwell B. Essylsten was a surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic, he presented a bombshell in the American Journal of Cardiology. He basically asserted that the standards of care for heart disease simply don’t work for most people. Specifically, “elective angioplasty does not decrease the risk of myocardial infarction or death. Bypass surgery does not decrease the risk of myocardial infarction, and it benefits survival only in high-risk subsets. So, it seems we have an enormous paradox. The disease that is the leading killer of men and women in Western civilization is largely untreated.” He goes on to point out that “performing interventions has the potential for enormous financial reward”, whereas lifestyle changes, which are more efficacious with no side effects, provide little or no financial benefit for providers.
Yet, despite The American Medical Association’s (AMA) Code of Medical Ethics, which states that “physicians should sensitively and respectfully disclose all relevant medical information to patients” when it comes to treatment options for heart disease, how often do you think doctors share the benefits of a plant-based diet vs. statins, for example? For those of you on statin drugs for cholesterol, are you aware that they only work for one out of sixty patients? Why in the world would you put up with the numerous negative side effects of this prescription drug, such as muscle pain, liver damage and upset stomach, when your chances of it helping are less than 2%? It’s just crazy, and I’m not making these numbers up, they come right out of the AMA’s Journal of Ethics! Check out this short video and you’ll see what I mean:
You want the real scoop on what to do about the prevention and cure of heart disease? Get educated! I cannot emphasize this enough……it’s your life and it’s also your responsibility to be your most knowledgeable and vocal advocate. Here are five, clinically-based articles to get you started:
So, given the overwhelming evidence that the adoption of this lifestyle is the highway to health, with the additional benefit that you’ll never, ever have to go on a diet again, here’s your new food pyramid:
The big “C” strikes fear and extreme anxiety into the hearts of most people. It seems everyone has been touched in some way by this horrid disease. The standard course of treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation, can be worse than the disease itself. The theory is that these “poisons” will kill the cancer at a faster clip than they will harm your normal cells. I am offering the following two videos from our friend, Dr. Gregor, with the hope that the new research he cites will encourage you to consider both preventing and treating cancer in a natural, safe and effective manor that is free from the devastating side effects. You owe it to yourself, and perhaps your loved ones, to take the time to watch these powerful videos. God bless
“I’ll believe it when I see it!”, the mantra of most skeptics, can actually be turned around to help you stick to whatever New Year’s resolutions you’ve made for 2014. Understanding the real truth that you’ll actually “see it only after you believe it” could be the key to success in reaching whatever new goals you’ve established for yourself this year. Both your conscious and subconscious minds have to truly believe that you can attain any goal before you actually reach it. The most effective way to accomplish this is through two scientifically proven and distinct visualization techniques.
The first is through calling up mental images of your past successful experiences under the same circumstances. They can be snippets of times when you actually experienced success and personal satisfaction in your new resolution, like exercising when you didn’t feel like it or pushing away a dessert you really wanted but knew was bad for you, or being particularly organized in accomplishing a complicated task. Whatever it is that you want for yourself in 2014, there is a high likelihood that you’ve experienced some piece of it in the past; use it, draw on it, dwell on it, even obsess about it and be convinced that you have the capability to follow through on your resolution.
The second visualization technique can be an amplification of the first or even a substitute, if necessary. This is simply using the most effective technique we’ve all employed since birth, called modelling or learning vicariously. How did you learn to walk or talk? You watched, observed, listened and mimicked. Do the same thing with your resolutions. See in others what you want for yourself and simply focus on their behavior. If you want what they have, do what they do. This technique is simply convincing yourself that, “if they can do it, I can do it!” I experience the power of this technique every time I attend a live professional tennis tournament. After spending hours watching the best in the world up close and personal, the next time I step on the court, I always play better. Scientists explain that the power of that imagery allows the brain to recreate the experience in our own behavior and bodies. It’s another fascinating miracle of our human “being” and it can help you make those resolutions for 2014 stick.
Here’s some particularly insightful advice on how to make your holiday family gatherings more enjoyable and peaceful. Wayne Dyer’s premise here is critical in that the most effective way to change the dynamics of any relationship is to work on the only thing over which you have control…..yourself!
Many years ago, when the holiday season arrived and certain relatives were due to make their annual appearance, I felt a sense of increasing dread. Far too many of us suffer from the pain of family get-togethers, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Somehow we allow the expectations and demands of our family members to be the source of so much unhappiness and stress, when what we really want is to be authentically ourselves and at peace with our relatives. The conflict seems too often to be a choice between being authentic, which means no peace with certain relatives, or having peace at the price of being inauthentic. Being peaceful and authentic can define your relationship with your relatives. First, though, you may have to assess your relationship with the closest relative of all—you.
In order to change the nature of family relationships, you’ll have to change your mind about them and consider that you are the source of the anguish in your relationships, rather than the individual whom you’ve pegged as the most outrageous, the most despicable, or the most infuriating. Over the years, all of these individuals have been treating you exactly as you’ve allowed them to with your reactions and behaviors. This can miraculously change when you choose to be at peace with everyone in your life—most particularly, your relatives.
If the focus of your inner dialogue about your family members is on what they’re doing that’s wrong, then that’s precisely how your relationship with them will be experienced. If your inner speech centers on what’s annoying about them, that’s what you’ll notice. But if you’re thinking, I am authentic and peaceful with this relative, then that’s what you’ll experience—even if that relative continues to be exactly the way he or she has always been.
The key to having peace in all your family relationships is forgiveness. Your relatives are simply doing what they’ve been taught to do over a lifetime, and the lifetimes of many of their ancestors. Shower them with understanding and forgiveness from your heart. Rather than being in a state of non-peace concerning any family members, say a prayer of gratitude for their presence in your life and all that they have come to teach you.
The likelihood is great that you’ll see dramatic changes in your relatives as you teach them with your own persona how you intend to be treated. But if they don’t change, and if they continue their nonpeaceful ways, let go of your need to see them transformed. It all works in divine order, and the saying Let go and let God guarantees your own peace, and you dramatically increase the odds of helping others to do the same.
Not surprisingly, this was one of the most popular posts last year so, as we move into the holidays, reminding you of red wine‘s powerful medicinal properties seemed an appropriate gift……….Cheers!
Red Wine: Health Benefits
With the holidays looming, I thought it would be nice to help justify those sumptuous glasses of red wine you plan on sharing with with family and friends. The evidence seems to be clear that regular, moderate consumption of red wine is beneficial to your health. Without getting into all the scientific gobbledygook behind them, here’s a quick rundown on the benefits to help you educate others:
Decreased incidence of cardiovascular disease
Lowers risk of heart attacks
Maintains muscle mass, strength and bone density during extended periods of inactivity
Prevents harmful cellular damage
Decreased incidence of colon, lung, prostate and breast cancers
That’s an impressive list, but remember, these benefits are associated with moderate and consistent consumption. Excessive imbibing and binge drinking can lead to a whole host of health problems including increased cancer risk, liver disease, high blood pressure, heart failure and addiction. Wine also contains empty calories, which can lead to weight gain in the absence of exercise and proper nutrition.
So go ahead and enjoy your red wine over the holidays…….responsibly and in moderation.
